Upon the death of Josias Towgood, Elizabeth’s father, Elizabeth and her brother Josias were placed under the care of William Beanes, Jr,, who was appointed, along with Colemore Beanes, as executors of the estate of Josias.Towgood,  In his will, Josias left his slaves to daughters Mary Towgood, Martha Anne Towgood and Elizabeth Towgood.  His land was left to be sold with proceeds split by the four children.
